Floors We Install, and What Each One Is Good At
We put in hardwood flooring, luxury vinyl plank and luxury vinyl tile, ceramic and porcelain tile, laminate flooring, carpet installation and carpet tile. We also handle vinyl composition tile for laundry and utility rooms, plus stair flooring for treads and risers. Each service page lays out where that material shines, where it struggles and what the install involves. Read two or three side by side and the differences start to make sense.

Hardwood Flooring

What Moves the Price of a New Floor
Two rooms of the same size can cost very different amounts to floor. The material is only part of it. Here is what actually changes the number on your quote.
We measure your rooms and look at the subfloor before giving a number, then go over the written quote with you line by line. No figure is final until we have seen the space.
- The material you choose
- Solid hardwood, porcelain tile and vinyl with a thick wear layer cost more per square foot than entry-level laminate or basic carpet. Within each type, thickness and finish quality move the price too.
- Square footage and layout
- More floor means more material and labor. Rooms with lots of corners, closets or angled walls add cutting time and waste, and a diagonal or herringbone pattern adds more still.
- Tearing out the old floor
- Pulling up carpet is quick. Removing glued-down tile or old sheet vinyl takes longer and leaves more debris to haul away.
- Subfloor and slab condition
- Every floor needs a flat, dry base. Most homes in the area sit on concrete slabs over clay soil that shifts, which can leave dips or cracks that need grinding or self-leveling compound before anything goes down.
- Stairs, trim and transitions
- Stairs are priced by the step because each tread and riser is cut and fitted by hand. New baseboard, quarter round and thresholds between rooms are smaller items that add up.

How a Flooring Job Runs
Most jobs follow the same four steps. Here is what happens at each one and what we will ask of you.
- 1
Talk it through by phone
Tell us which rooms, what is there now and how you use them. We will tell you which materials make sense and set a time to come measure.
- 2
Measure and check the base
We measure each room, test the slab or subfloor for moisture and flatness, and point out anything that needs fixing first. You get a written quote with every item listed.
- 3
Prep and install
We protect walkways, remove the old flooring and prepare the base. Then the new floor goes in, with trim and transitions fitted so doors swing freely and thresholds sit level.
- 4
Walk-through and cleanup
Before we pack up, we walk the floor with you, show you how to care for it and clean the work area. If something is not right, we fix it.

How We Work With You
Plenty of people pick a floor from a showroom sample and find out later how it behaves with a dog, a toddler or a wet mudroom. We would rather you know that before the first box is opened.
- Plain answers about each material
- We tell you what a wear layer is, why tile needs a flat base and why some laminate swells at the seams if water sits on it. If a less expensive floor will do the job in a room, we say so.
- We check what is under the floor
- Most problems with new floors start below them. We look at the slab or subfloor for cracks, high spots and moisture before recommending anything, and we show you what we found.
- Quotes broken out line by line
- Material, underlayment, removal of the old floor, leveling, trim and transitions each get their own line. You can see what you are paying for and which items are optional.
- Your home treated like a home
- We cover walkways, keep dust down during tear-out and clean up before we leave each day. You should be able to live in the rest of the house while we work.

A Flooring Company That Talks It Through First
Flooring Richmond TX installs floors in homes around Richmond and the surrounding area. We spend extra time explaining because we often meet homeowners who were sold the wrong floor for the room, like laminate in a laundry room or thin vinyl in a busy entry.
Our job is to install your floor well and help you choose it with your eyes open. We will tell you how each option handles water, scratches and sunlight, how long the install takes and what upkeep looks like afterward. Then the decision is yours.
When we come out to measure, bring your questions. Should the floor run the same direction through every room? Will new tile raise the height at the patio door? Small details like these are what make a floor look right years later, and we are glad to go over each one.

Questions Homeowners Ask Us
Something not covered here? (346) 480-5524
Which floor holds up best to water and humidity?
Porcelain tile and luxury vinyl plank or tile are the most water-resistant choices. Most luxury vinyl has a waterproof core, so a spill or pet accident will not swell it. Laminate has improved, but many products still dislike standing water at the seams. Solid hardwood is the most sensitive to moisture, which matters in a humid Gulf Coast climate.
Can hardwood go over a concrete slab?
Yes, with the right product and prep. Engineered hardwood is usually the better fit on a slab because its layered core moves less as humidity changes. We test the slab for moisture first and use a vapor barrier or an adhesive rated for concrete. Nail-down solid hardwood needs a wood subfloor, which most slab homes do not have.
What is the difference between luxury vinyl plank and laminate?
Both look like wood and both usually click together. Luxury vinyl is plastic all the way through, so it handles water well and feels a little softer underfoot. Laminate has a wood-fiber core under a hard printed surface, so it resists scratches better but can swell if water sits on it. We will suggest the right one room by room.
How long does installation take?
A couple of bedrooms in carpet or vinyl plank often takes a single day. A whole downstairs, tile that needs time for grout to cure, or a slab that needs leveling can take several days. We give you a realistic schedule with your quote so you can plan around it.
Can we stay in the house while you work?
Yes, most families do. We work room by room where we can, keep a path open to the kitchen and bathrooms and clean up at the end of each day. Tile removal is the dustiest part, and we will tell you ahead of time which days that will be.
Do you offer a warranty?
Yes. We give a 1-year workmanship warranty on all installations, which covers the installation work itself. Flooring products usually carry their own coverage from the maker, and we will go over what that means for the product you choose.
How do I get a price for my floors?
Phone us and describe the rooms and what is there now. We will talk through your options, then come measure and check the subfloor so the quote is based on your actual floor. You get it in writing, with each item listed.
