Carpet Installation in Richmond, TX

New carpet should feel soft, lie flat and stay that way for years. We help you pick the fiber and pad that fit how you live, then install it with tight seams and a proper stretch, explaining each choice in plain words along the way.

What Good Carpet Installation Actually Involves

Most carpet that wears out early was installed poorly, not chosen poorly. A pad that is too thin, a seam placed across a busy walkway or carpet that was never stretched tight will show up as ripples and flattened paths within a few years.

We have been installing floors for 25+ years, and the habit we keep is simple: before you decide, we tell you what the labels on a sample mean. Face weight, pile height, fiber type and pad density all sound technical, but each one comes down to how the carpet will feel underfoot and how long it holds up in your home.

Carpet still makes sense for bedrooms, playrooms and upstairs spaces where warmth and quiet matter. If a room sees spills or water, we will say so and point you toward options like Luxury Vinyl Plank or Carpet Tile instead.

What Your Carpet Installation Includes

Measuring and seam planning

Carpet comes in wide rolls, so most rooms need at least one seam. We map where seams fall so they run away from doorways and the main path through the room, where they stay hardest to see.

Old flooring removal

We pull up the old carpet, pad and staples, and we check the tack strip around the edges. Strip that is rusted or loose gets replaced rather than reused.

The right pad for the carpet

Pad matters as much as the carpet on top. We match its thickness and density to the carpet style, because a pad that is too soft lets the backing flex and break down early.

Power stretching

We stretch the carpet with a power stretcher, not just a knee kicker. A tight stretch is what keeps wrinkles and bubbles from forming once furniture goes back and the room gets daily use.

Finished edges and transitions

Carpet is tucked cleanly at the walls and finished with the proper transition strip where it meets tile, wood or vinyl, so there is no lifted edge to catch a toe.

Cleanup and walkthrough

We haul away the old material, vacuum the new carpet and walk the rooms with you so you can see the seams and edges for yourself.

Signs It Is Time for New Carpet

Ripples that keep coming back
Wrinkles usually mean the carpet was never stretched properly or the backing has started to fail. Restretching helps for a while, but carpet that ripples again soon after is near the end of its life.
Matted traffic lanes
When the path from the door to the couch looks flat and dull no matter how often you vacuum, the fibers have crushed for good.
Pad you can feel through the carpet
Lumpy spots or a crunchy feel underfoot point to padding that has crumbled. Pulled up, old pad often turns to dust in your hand.
Odors and stains that will not lift
Pet accidents and spills soak through to the pad. Once that happens, surface cleaning cannot reach it.
Seams pulling apart
A visible line or frayed edge where two pieces meet means the seam has let go, and it tends to spread with foot traffic.

How a Carpet Job Goes From Call to Finished Room

  1. 1

    A conversation by phone

You tell us which rooms, who uses them and whether pets or kids are in the picture. We explain the main carpet types so you know what to look at before anyone visits.

  2. 2

    Measuring in your home

We measure each room, check the floor underneath and plan the seams. You get a written estimate that lists carpet, pad, removal and any extras as separate lines, so nothing is hidden inside one number.

  3. 3

    Prep on install day

We protect walls and doorways, remove the old carpet and pad, and fix any loose tack strip. Most homes here sit on concrete slabs, so we check for moisture and high spots before the new pad goes down.

  4. 4

    Install, stretch and trim

Pad goes in first, then the carpet is seamed, power stretched and trimmed at the walls. Most homes are done in a day, depending on how many rooms and stairs are involved.

  5. 5

    Walkthrough and cleanup

We vacuum, clear out the old material and look over every seam and edge with you before we leave.

What Moves the Price of New Carpet

Carpet pricing is mostly about square footage, but a few other choices can shift the total quite a bit. Here is what changes the number, so the written estimate makes sense when you see it.

Room size and shape
Carpet is cut from wide rolls, so oddly shaped rooms and closets can create more leftover material than a simple rectangle.
Carpet fiber and style
Nylon, polyester and blends wear differently and are priced differently. Denser, heavier carpet usually costs more and also holds up longer in busy rooms.
Pad choice
A thicker, denser pad adds some cost but protects the carpet backing and makes the floor feel better.
Removal and floor repair
Tearing out old carpet, replacing tack strip or leveling a rough spot in the slab all add time. We note any of it on the estimate before work starts.
Stairs
Each step is cut and fitted by hand, so stairs take longer than open floor. Our Stair Flooring page explains the options in more detail.

Carpet Installation Questions We Hear Often

What is face weight, and does it matter?
Face weight is how many ounces of fiber sit in each square yard of carpet. More fiber generally means a fuller feel and better wear. It is one number, though, and density and twist matter too, so we look at all three with you rather than chasing the heaviest option.
Nylon or polyester, which should I pick?
Nylon bounces back better after being crushed, which makes it a good fit for hallways and family rooms. Polyester is soft and resists many stains but can mat sooner under heavy traffic. For a guest bedroom, polyester is often plenty.
How long does installation take?
Most homes are finished in a single day. A whole upstairs with a staircase can take longer, and we will give you a realistic time frame when we measure.
Is there a warranty on the installation?
Yes. We offer a 1-year workmanship warranty on all installations, so if a seam opens or the carpet loosens because of how it was installed, we come back and fix it. The carpet itself is covered separately by its manufacturer.
What happens if something in my house gets damaged during the job?
We are insured, which matters any time a crew is carrying heavy rolls, tack strip and tools through your hallways and up your stairs. We also cover door frames and wall corners before the first roll comes inside, so accidents are rare to begin with.
Should I put carpet in every room?
Not always. Carpet is great for bedrooms and living spaces, but we usually steer people away from it in kitchens, bathrooms and entryways. Carpet Tile or Luxury Vinyl Tile handle spills much better in those spots.
